Director of the Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies and Chair of the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures as well as Professor of Language, Literature, and Culture at Ohio State University. Her primary expertise is in Eastern European literary culture, with a particular emphasis on biography and the depiction of war. Understanding the importance of each country in Central, East and Southeastern Europe, Brintlinger has worked to increase programming across the region. In particular, starting with a comparative panel to contextualize Ukraine’s experience of family, through CSEEES Brintlinger has organized numerous webinars as well as several photo exhibits exploring Ukraine in order to ensure better knowledge of Ukrainian history and culture across a broad population of students and the general public, even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
